Having performed in one of 71 nationwide festivals earlier in the year, 345 exceptional groups, involving 12,000 young musicians have been invited to perform at this week long festival. The festival is non competitive and all about participation, enjoyment, achievement and ultimately great music.

432young talented musicians aged 7-18 from London have been invited to bring their music groups Camden Youth Jazz Band, Cardinal Vaughan Big Band, Chestnut Grove Senior Steel Pans, Dulwich Prep Big Band, Emanuel School Chapel Choir, Feith an Cheoil School of Irish Traditional Music, Heathfield House Chamber Choir, Larmenier and Sacred Heart School Choir, Manorside Samba Band, PIPSqueaks, St Mary’s RC Primary School, Taneisha Jackson and Stephanie Forbes, Trilogy, Twyford Gospel Choir and Walthamstow School For Girls Year 11 Steel Band. These groups will perform live to audiences in venues including Symphony Hall, Town Hall, HMV Institute, Birmingham Conservatoire, and the Museum and Art Gallery.

Now in its 41st year the National Festival showcases a wide range of music. Across the festival you will hear orchestral music, jazz, rock, choral, pop, brass, wind, chamber music, musical theatre and urban ensembles.

“Every year the festival goes from strength to strength and it’s fantastic to see so many groups from across the UK coming together for this celebration” says Lincoln Abbotts Chief Executive of Music for Youth.

Alongside the main stage performances a range of workshops will be on offer for the young performers to take part in which will see them working with The National Youth Orchestra, National Youth Brass Band, National Youth Choir, National Youth Jazz Collective, National Children’s Orchestra, National Youth Music Theatre and the South Asian Music Youth Orchestra.
