Born Free’s Big Cat Nap week!
Do nothing for charity during Born Free’s Big Cat Nap week!
International wildlife charity the Born Free Foundation are asking you to do nothing for charity next week as part of their ‘Big Cat Nap’. 4th – 10th July will see people donning pyjamas, snoozing in the garden and putting their feet up, all in the name of fundraising!
During Big Cat Nap week, the first in what the charity hopes will become an annual event, people are being asked to take the lead from male lions who sleep for 23 hours a day! All you need to do to take part is relax or join in a sleep-themed activity and ask family and friends to sponsor you.
People can even get their colleagues involved by hosting a long lunch or a ‘wear your pjs to work’ day and collecting donations. Schools can also join in by doing a sponsored read, while pupils put their feet up or big cat face painting.
Or, if that is too much exertion for a sleepy supporter, they can put their feet up and donate with a simple text from their mobile phone.
All money raised will go directly to supporting Born Free’s big cat projects: helping protect threatened big cat species such as lions and tigers in the wild and assisting in the daily care of the charity’s rescued big cats such as Sinbad the lion and Menelik the cheetah who were rescued from terrible conditions and now live in Born Free sanctuaries in South Africa and Ethiopia respectively.
People can share their photos, find out interesting big cat facts, get lots of fundraising ideas and download the Big Cat Nap quiz on the website.
